Precision Optics Corporation was an early pioneer in robotic surgery, partnering on the optical assemblies that were key to Intuitive® surgical systems, including the da Vinci® system. Since then, we have developed proprietary techniques to improve image quality and illumination at ever-smaller sizes, allowing never-before access for new surgery techniques. 500-Micron Endoscope for Minimally Invasive Atrial Fibrillation

CardioFocus’ Heartlight X3 allows physicians to treat atrial fibrillation with a minimally invasive procedure that offers real-time imaging, precise laser energy delivery, and full-color perspective. Precision Optics Corporation partnered with CardioFocus from design through prototyping, clinical trials, and production. Improving on early CardioFocus designs, Precision Optics was able to achieve a manufacturable and robust 500-micron diameter endoscope with a wide 110-degree field of view for insertion into the balloon catheter. This allowed the physician to precisely monitor and adjust the location of energy delivery. Now ramping up to a multi-year, multi-million-dollar program due to product success, Precision Optics provides continued support through high-volume manufacturing and assembly.
